  8. Introduction:

  10. UnrealIRCd is an IRC server based on the branch of IRCu called
  11. Dreamforge, formerly used by the DALnet IRC Network. Since
  12. development started on it (around May 1999) many new features
  13. has been added, modified, and many bugs fixed. Unreal runs
  14. both on *nix platforms, Amiga & Windows 95/98/2k/NT. Some
  15. features to mention: Channel Halfops, No-color channel mode,
  16. Strip-colors channel mode, channelmode +q & +a - protect
  17. modes, Oper and Admin only channels, exception bans, Nokicks
  18. mode (channel and user), Flood limiter, Channel links, Host
  19. cloaking, Net* Tech and Co-Admin modes, Whois notifies,
  20. Foreign connects monitor, Oper suspend, G:Lines, T:Lines,
  21. channel restriction (people can only go to these channels if
  22. enabled), Trojan/DCC Deny, RPING/RPONG, Sethost family, Token
  23. in server<->server etc. FDlists/High Traffic Mode, SOCKS check
  24. on connect, Speeded up server synchs, limited WebTV Client
  25. support, /vhost, and many dreamforge optimations. UnrealIRCd
  26. is aimed to be an advanced, not an easy IRCd. If you need

  28. irc.flirt.org and join channel #UnrealIRCd. Or e-mail at

  32. Installation:

  34. Extract the archive to a place of your choice, make an Unreal:
  35. assign to the Unreal directory. Rename the ircd file you want
  36. to use (hub or leaf) to ircd.

  38. Then configure the ircd.conf, template.network and
  39. unrealircd.conf files to suit your needs.

  41. Use mkpasswd to create passwords for your O-lines..

  43. If you use AmiTCP (Not Genesis), ignore the following:

  45. Make an ETC: assign to a place of your choice, then make a
  46. file called resolv.conf there, and put in it the following
  47. (case sensitive):

  49. domain <isp domain name>
  50. nameserver <isp dns server ip>
